Zeolite for Odor & Moisture Control

Zeolite is nontoxic for humans and pets, and can safely be used for moisture control.

Natural zeolite acts as a molecular sieve that traps and removes odors. Because of its porosity and cation exchange capacity, noxious odors are trapped inside its crystalline structure and removed from the surrounding environment.

In addition to removing odor-causing ammonia from animal urine, zeolite can safely be used to absorb liquids or noxious odors in other parts of the home. For instance, zeolite is often used in products designed to remove malodors from footwear, garbage cans, refrigerators, and walk-in coolers. Its success in the applications mentioned above is largely attributed to its surface-adsorption properties.

Because zeolite absorbs liquids, the minerals do not become slippery when wet. As a result, zeolite can be applied on wood, concrete, or rubber floors without the concern of creating slick surfaces.

Zeolite also creates efficiencies when cleaning damp areas such as basements or garages because it is not necessary to completely dry floors or walls prior to prior zeolite application; the mineral naturally absorbs moisture and odors upon contact.
